SUBMISSION DEADLINE: DECEMBER 01, 2007!

The Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film is now ready to
go into the 15th round. With over 50.000 visitors to cinemas in
Stuttgart and Ludwigsburg and to the open air event on Stuttgart's main
square "Schlossplatz" as well as 1.000 professionals, the festival is
one of the largest events for animated film worldwide.
The 15th Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (May 01 to May 06, 2008)
impresses yet again with a wide range of animated film – from artistic
short films, through TV series and children's films to feature-length
animation. It offers a high-class programme with the best new
productions from all over the world.

The festival is also an important international place of exchange for
filmmakers, producers, distributors, sales agents, and journalists. At
the Animated Video Market professional visitors have access to a wide
selection of all the films submitted. In view of the success of the
Animation Production Day 2007 this business meeting shall be continued
in an extended form.

- Under Commission: Competition for commissioned film work.
- "Music for Animation" Award as part of the International Competition.
- The Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film goes digital. For the first
time films can be shown in high-resolution DCP format.

Público de filmes de animação cresceu 153% em quatro anos

Os filmes de animação atraíram 18,2 milhões de espectadores às salas
de cinema brasileiras no ano passado, o que representa um crescimento
de 153% na procura pelo gênero em um período de quatro anos (em 2002
foram 7,2 milhões de pessoas). O volume de público acompanhou a
evolução dos filmes de animação distribuídos no Brasil, que passou de
11 produções em 2002 para 21 títulos em 2006.

Os dados foram apresentados pela Nielsen EDI, durante o FIICAV 2007. De
acordo com a pesquisa, a animação foi o gênero de filme mais assistido
no Brasil no ano passado, com 20% de market share e média de público de
800 mil espectadores.

Exportação – A Maurício de Souza Produções vai exportar a animação
brasileira para o mercado asiático a partir do final de 2007. A empresa
já está produzindo uma série de desenhos educativos que serão
transmitidos na TV popular da China, atingindo cerca de 180 milhões de
crianças. "Precisamos levar a animação brasileira para a TV, não só no
Brasil, como no mundo todo", disse Maurício de Souza à Tela Viva News,
durante o FIICAV 2007.

Acompanhando esta tendência, os Estúdios Maurício de Souza também vão
produzir a primeira série de desenhos animados voltados especificamente
para a TV. "Antes, pegávamos trechos de filmes prontos e adaptávamos
para a televisão. Agora, vamos apostar nesse meio de comunicação e,
para isso, vamos produzir séries já com o formato adequado", comentou o
criador da Turma da Mônica.
No segmento de longa-metragens, já está em produção o filme do
personagem Horácio, com previsão de lançamento para 2009, além de mais
um longa previsto para 2010.
